Iraq participates in International Civil Defense Organization meetings in Geneva
According to a statement by the Ministry of Interior, this participation holds significant strategic importance, as it coincides with the 59th session of the Executive Council and the 27th session of the General Assembly of the organization, attended by representatives of member states, to discuss emerging challenges in disaster management and the mitigation of their impacts.
The proceedings of the session focused on charting a new roadmap for international cooperation in addressing risks—by deepening partnerships, exchanging field and technical expertise among counterpart agencies, and consolidating and intensifying joint efforts to protect lives and property in accordance with the highest established standards.
The statement added: "The participation of the Director-General of Civil Defense serves as a key pillar in supporting international coordination, given Iraq’s wealth of knowledge and cumulative experience in handling emergency situations.
Through this engagement, Iraq also aims to showcase the scientific and specialized capabilities of its national personnel, and to enhance operational standards by integrating global expertise—thereby strengthening the national civil protection system and supporting international efforts toward risk prevention." / End
