Baghdad / NINA — Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament Farhad Amin Atrushi discussed with World Health Organization (WHO) Representative in Iraq Jamila Al-Raabi, accompanied by a delegation from the health and environmental systems sector and the Ru’ya for Development Group, ways to strengthen the partnership between the legislative institution and the United Nations organization to enhance health cooperation in Iraq.

According to a statement from the Deputy Speaker’s media office, the meeting addressed ways to develop the partnership between the legislative institution and the UN organization to raise health awareness, curb the spread of communicable diseases, and update prevention and public safety mechanisms.

The Deputy Speaker highlighted the important role played by the World Health Organization in providing technical and advisory support to Iraqi health institutions. He affirmed the Council of Representatives’ commitment to enacting legislation and policies that contribute to improving the country’s health sector.

For her part, Al-Raabi praised the tangible level of cooperation with the legislative institution, the Ministry of Health, and government entities in Iraq. She reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to continuing to provide the necessary support and expertise to strengthen the health system and ensure the success of national awareness campaigns. /End
